Astrid

Astrid Tether is a augmented fox-robot hybrid and member of Zephyr's Garden. Astrid goes by it/its or she/her pronouns.

Life (unfinished)

Astrid was born in the thirty sixth day of the thirty sixth taranto aboard the Greenbelt ship "A Glimmer of Light Against the Matte Blackness of Space" in the hours following the Janus incident. Her mother was a conjurer and a Greenbelt native, working on the ship as a shield tech. Any family records beyond her mother's employment were destroyed along with the archives of the ship. It is believed that both her and mother survived because of their proximity to the ship's heat shields, which isolated them from the extreme radiation created during the incedent.

Astrid was raised aboard the ship by its robotic caretakers, controlled at the time by the First Tether. During this time, she learned how to manage the ship's agricultural department, bringing it back from the brink of destruction. During her time managing the agricultural department of the ship, she had her first encounter with the Tether's needle fluid. The fluid came in the form of vegetables that had been contaminated with water from a damaged line. In an commission to the lord of the High Roof Astrid said:

"As soon as I touched it, I became suddenly aware of the Tether all around me. I knew in that moment that I had to get off of the ship, I had to go home, to take her home with me."

Astrid subsequently left the ship aboard an escape pod with the vegetables. She later touched down on what was formerly the Nál sea.

Relationship to the First Tether

Astrid is attuned Atherously to the First Tether. In celebration of her attunement, the Tether gifted her with a golden Ring and, most notably, her augmentation surgeries. In appreciation of this and "to prove her love" Astrid has carried out several diplomatic or military operations on behalf of the Tether, including:

• Initiation of contact with The lord of the High Roof
• Creation and subsequent destruction of the Second Tether
• Suppression of The Lord of the High Roof as a favor to Nothing
• Eradication of prototype needles from Greenbelt

The Tether obviously cares for Astrid, investing copious amounts of resources to ensure her safety. Famously, the Tether designed medical (quartz tipped) needles to be compatible only to individuals having undergone vein augmentations.

Augmentations

Astrid has undergone five documented augmentations, including:

• A standard Kauphaldi EYE
• A modified ATLAS cerebral augmentation
• A vein augmentation surgery allowing needle fluid to be compatible with her circulatory system
• A modification to her ears, allowing them to produce needle fluid under specific conditions.
• A modification to her fingertips, allowing her to ignite needle fluid.

While it is neither Astrid nor the Tether has confirmed exactly what modifications were made to Astrid's ATLAS system, The Lord of the High Roof suggested in a commission that it was modified to allow her to somehow create liquidation (charcoal tipped) needles.

Death

Astrid died via externally administered liquidation needle exactly thirty six tarantos after the destruction (hidden power) of Greenbelt. She died on her birth ship, alone. Years later, she was discovered by new agents of the First Tether and brought to a facility under the Nál sea.

Nothing is known about her current whereabouts.
