"The story you have been fed so far is, at best, a half truth. The nature of our work here at Zenith precludes us from being able to know, let alone speak, the whole truth. This does not mean that lying is our modus operandi, rather that anything you may hear, read, or think while working here is equivalently true and untrue at the same time. Try not to let it go to your head, the meds to fix that are expensive as hell."

- Zenith Director, 1997 New Hires Symposium.

Introduction

Greetings, ASIP here. If you have found your way to this page you have likely already begun to make your first plunges into the lore and story of the Zenith Project. As you probably know Zenith is, at time of writing, in an incredibly nascent state. So let's set discuss some ground rules!

Story Rules

1) Weave, don't cut.

This is The Big One that everything else stems from. "Weave, don't cut" is also commonly understood as "yes, and"ing. Long story short, don't fuck up someone else's story. As the intro quote implied, everything is equally canon, and some pages may not even have any connection to the story or lore of Zenith at all. That's OK. If someone writes something you feel isn't correct to the story of Zenith, don't fuck up their story in the pursuit of some other viewpoint.

2) Less is more.

I often find that when writing a collaborative story like this, there are people who will try to plug every single plot hole that could possibly exist. I feel this is bad practice, successful collaborative story/wiki projects often come about because of their dedication to not answer every question. The more questions you leave, the more answers that will spark other people to write about. Some mysteries always will always be just out of reach, and that's what ends up sending people on those manic dopamine fueled rabbit holes we all know and love.

3) Clean up after yourself and others.

Writing is hard, and everyone else here understands that! If you're making a page (with the exception of artistic liberty), try to make it as clean and neat as possible, but don't feel pressured to change your story to match someone else's standards. If you see someone else's page has errors, just edit in good faith, there's a revert function if you end up being wrong!

When you're writing a new page, try to stick to what you understand to be the canon.

If you're confused by someone's writing, or find a contradiction, or you want to bring their page up to par with modern story elements, or any number of things you're not sure on, that's what the discussion tab is for! Reach out! Everyone here wants to make Zenith as cool as possible, and good communication makes it so nobody goes misunderstood!

If you want to add on to someone else's work because you were inspired or feel it needs: First check to see if it's open for edits, if not, reach out on the discussion tab or the discord to ask the best way to add your idea!
