Shattered Forest
The Shattered Forest is a large, forested hypocenter within The Shatter, located roughly parallel to the Mount Hood National Forest.[1] The hypocenter is caused by a pair of espial crossings in close proximity. The true extent of the forest is unknown, and the forest's ecosystem is home to flora and fauna not found within the Mount Hood National Forest.
The forest remains relatively unknown for the majority of people in Reality, as entrances are unpredictable and can be short in duration.[1] In addition to this, some individuals attempting to enter the forest are barred from entering by Dysnomia, or removed from the forest by Eris.
The forest is said to have an "otherworldly feeling", which can make memories feel hazy for those unaccustomed to the feeling. It has a baseline Rin measurement of around 2.21Rn, and is also home to both the lowest and highest Rin readings (located near the center of Zephyr's Garden and the edge of the Gap respectively) taken inside The Shatter.
Zephyr's Garden
For more information, see Zephyr's Garden.
Zephyr's Garden is a subsection of the Shattered Forest created as a result of Zephyr entering the forest. The garden is an ongoing project working towards cultivating and cataloguing the various flora and fauna within the forest, providing a central home for inhabitants of the forest, and is Zephyr's primary residence.
Polarities
The Shattered Forest has four polarities, each representative of a particular "theme", with some themes more starkly represented than others. Zephyr's Garden is located roughly in the center of all four polarities, where they all converge.
The Lustre
For more information, see The Lustre.
The Lustre is the north-eastern polarity within the Shattered Forest, and is typically associated with bright colors and "retro" technology. Its baseline Rin measures around 3.82Rn, making it the polarity with the highest baseline Rin levels. Most of the Lustre is forested, and technology originating from the late 20th century and early 21st century is commonly found around the section of the espial line located within the Lustre.
The Vivochor
For more information, see The Vivochor.
The Vivochor is the south-eastern polarity within the Shattered Forest, and is typically associated with nature and "coziness". Its baseline Rin measures around 2.21Rn. The majority of the Vivochor is a rainforest surrounding a large mountain range, and those who go into the polarity experience "...a deep sense of peace, like all of your worries are on break."[1]
The Frame
For more information, see The Frame.
The Frame is the south-western polarity within the Shattered Forest, and is typically associated with sci-fi technology and electronic hardware. Its baseline Rin measures roughly 3.68Rn. The frame is almost entirely comprised of a large superstructure with sections that resemble different large structures. Some sections have been compared to an SCP facility, with other sections resembling a prison complex or massive space station.
The Martyry
For more information, see The Martyry.
The Martyry is the north-western polarity within the Shattered Forest, and is typically associated with gritty, grunge aesthetics and "angst". Its baseline Rin measures roughly 1.81Rn, making it the polarity with the lowest baseline Rin levels.
Null Zones
The Shattered Forest has four "null zones", one in each cardinal direction relative to the forest's hypocenter. The null zones are areas where the local Rin baseline spikes, resulting in large swaths of the forest being ungrounded. Each null zone also occurs in the area directly between two polarities, where the polarities' strengths are smallest. As a result, each null zone is a large, difficult to traverse area of land that is devoid of some aspect of reality, and all null zones frequently break the laws of physics and euclidean geometry.
The Gap
The Gap is the northern null zone in the forest, located between the Martyry and the Lustre, and is characterized by a lack of memories. Individuals have been unable to record Rin measurements within the Gap, as the incredibly high levels interfere with all equipment. The outskirts of the Gap, however, have baseline Rin levels measured as high as 14.58Rn, making it the location with the single highest Rin measurements in The Shatter.
The physical landscape of the Gap remains unknown, as any attempts to record any information about it have failed. All equipment, electronic or analogue, fails to function within the Gap, and because of the nature of the location, all memories are lost.
