The Journal of Flynn Tcharkov

This is a collection of the writings of Flynn Tcharkov, a scientist and researcher from the Veiaur Institute of Physical Sciences. Flynn, after losing his husband in 842, became increasingly gung-ho in his research, and throughout 843 and the beginning of 844 he collected supplies for an expedition into Portalesni. He gathered supplies and knowledge from an extremely wide variety of sources, from accredited professors to the shamans of small villages.

On 844/5/01, Flynn entered Portalesni with the supplies he had gathered. On 855/3/16, his journal, alongside a few remaining supplies, were discovered near the edge of Portalesni by a small group of nomads.

Synopsis

In the beginning of his journey, Portalesni isn't much different from a normal forest. Flynn notes anything of interest, the frequency of which increases as he ventures deeper into the forest. He notes flora he doesn't recognize, providing rough scientific sketches of a few plants. He also notes that the fauna is increasingly strange in their actions - they seem to be less and less afraid of him, but can be very skittish around a few of the instruments he carries.

As he continues deeper, the trees get so dense that barely any sunlight reaches the forest floor. By the end of 844/6, after two months in Portalesni, he can no longer track the days and results to simply noting when he rests as a new day.
